FAQ

Does getting a tattoo hurt?
This is the most asked question. Pain is a relative thing. Everyone has different tolerances to pain. I'm not going to lie, though - it does hurt a little. Just not that much really. Some have described it as a "hot scratching feeling". People would not be returning again and again for tattoo after tattoo if it hurt that bad though. Most of us are not into pain, but the beauty of the tattoo and the pride associated with wearing it far outweighs a little pin-stick here and there. Also most tattoos don't take long to do.

How much does a tattoo cost?
When it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for. Yes, there are plenty of people tattooing out there that will ink you for cheap, but later you'll be looking for a real artist to have it covered up. Look for quality, and be willing to pay for it. NEVER haggle over the price of a tattoo. It is disrespectful to the artist. If you can't pay for quality, don't bother. This is not a bargain store or a swap meet. It is a piece of art you will wear for life. Be respectful to the shop and artist. Our prices are reasonable, so be respectful.

How old do I have to be to get a tattoo?
Eighteen (18), but if your parent or legal guardian comes in with you, you can be as young as 16. I myself won't tattoo anyone younger than 16, although some shops may in the area. You will still need a photo ID and your parent will need their photo ID as well, and must accompany you, and sign the required paperwork.

Can I make an appointment?
Customers are taken first come, first served, an appointment with me can only be made with a non-refundable deposit of at least $20.00. Calling ahead of time and see if the shop is busy is a good idea. Also there may be some prep time for your artwork or design. It is always good to let me know when you are coming in by calling 702-818-9767. Ask for Old School Jerry.
 I work friday-monday  1pm-9pm Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon.

What can I expect? How should I prepare?
Getting a good night's rest, eating a good meal and being relaxed are all good ideas. If you are hungry, tired or in a bad mood, it will make the experience less enjoyable for both you and the artist. Bring a drink like water or juice. Wear loose fitting or appropriate clothing if you already know where your tattoo will be. Relax and enjoy the experience. Getting a tattoo is a great thing.   The process will begin with choosing a design and area where it will go, pricing, (cash is preferred) and then filling out the release form and paying for your work. You will need a govt. issued PHOTO ID. Drivers license, state ID, military ID or Passport are accepted. This is a must. If you don't have an ID, you can't get tattooed. No exceptions. Next you will be brought in to the tattoo booth and the procedure will take place. Everything is single use and sterile. Single use needles, ink and medical supplies are used. After the tattooing process, you will be given aftercare instructions verbally and in writing. then it is your responsibility to follow the proper aftercare. I can answer any questions you may have, and then you are free to go and show off your new tattoo.

Should I tip the artist?
Any specialized service performed by a trained professional usually is deserving of a tip- waiters, hairdressers and tattoo artists included. Tips are appreciated by your artist. It is a way of saying you appreciate their efforts. A 10%-20% tip is usually about average in the tattoo world.
